Energy goals of SES

Our mall operator, SES Spar European Shopping Centers, has set clear energy goals for its 30 shopping malls that are to be achieved by 2050 at the latest. As the district shopping centre in Salzburg-Taxham and the main shopping mall for the region, we demonstrate responsibility towards people, the region and the environment – both today and on behalf of future generations. This is why EUROPARK has for many years been consistently committed to energy efficiency, proactive climate protection and resource-efficient mobility.

Very good connections to local public transport, bicycle parking, a direct link to the cycle network and modern infrastructure for electric vehicles provide an easy and lower-impact alternative for our customers when they shop with us. Up to 35% of people come to shop in our mall using public transport, on foot or by bike.

E-charging stations at EUROPARK

Use our e-charging stations at EUROPARK in a relaxed way while parking your car. There are a total of 12 e-charging stations available for charging your electric car. 8 are located in the underground parking garage and 4 more on the parking deck of the shopping center. At the charging stations you will also find all the important informations about the charging instructions and terms of use.

The bicycle parking at EUROPARK Salzburg is located at the INTERSPAR entrance.

All public areas at EUROPARK have barrier-free access.

There is a digital timetable with a real-time display of the departure times at EUROPARK Salzburg. Bus, metro, S train, train station, stop.

The self-service bicycle terminal at EUROPARK Salzburg is located in the outdoor area of INTERSPAR. Repairs, pumping tyres, filling air, express service.

There are 4.200 free XL-Parkplätze available directly at the entrance and the underground car park at EUORPARK Salzburg. Separate parking spaces for bikes, motorbikes, buses & camper vans.

The EUROPARK Salzburg can be reached via the S train lines S2 und S3. The S train stop “Taxham EUROPARK” is located within walking distance.

The center can be reached on foot and by bike via paved, wheelchair & pushchair-friendly footpaths and bike paths.

The electric charging station for bikes at EUROPARK Salzburg is located in the outdoor area of INTERSPAR.

Disabled and family parking spaces are located directly by the entrance at EUROPARK Salzburg.

Free cooling & optimised cooling and heating

The best possible indoor climate

Using demand-controlled ventilation means that only the energy that is actually needed is used to obtain the best possible indoor climate. When necessary, the night air is used to cool the shopping mall outside opening hours (free cooling). All ventilation systems include technical equipment for heat recovery.

Energy-saving lighting

Saving Energy helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. At EUROPARK, for many years this has included specific measures such as successively retrofitting all the lighting on the façades and the interior with energy-saving LED technology.

OPTIMISED NEEDS-BASED VENTILATION

Cheap Air

Actions speak louder than words! One practical example of climate-friendly operation is ventilation that adapts to the number of visitors in the mall. It was developed by SES and adjusts the air quality in the mall perfectly to actual requirements, achieving annual savings of around 2.9 million kilowatt hours of electricity in the Austrian malls operated by SES.

Helping where there’s a need. We assume social responsibility, whether through long-term cooperation with clubs and organisations in the region, through unforgettable events or various charity campaigns.

Company day nursery

EUROPARK also looks after employees at the shopping mall, providing family-friendly conditions. This is why a company day nursery, open all year round, was established to make it easier for retail staff to balance their work and family life. Children over the age of 1 1/2 years are lovingly cared for by qualified staff in four groups according to age.

Rettet das Kind Salzburg

What had started back in 2012 as a small, spontaneous campaign has now grown to become one of the most successful and popular charity activities in Austria. In 2022 it was even awarded the “Branchen-Oscar”, the Austrian fundraising award. Involved from the start: the charity campaign organised by EUROPARK and Antenne Salzburg in aid of Rettet das Kind Salzburg.
Since the start of the joint fundraising campaign eleven years ago, over € 570,000 has been raised for the Salzburg aid organisation.

Warm a Soul

For many people, the Christmas season is not just an occasion to give their loved ones presents but also to donate to charities. The LOOP agency has taken this as an opportunity to launch the “Warm a Soul” initiative. Together with EUROPARK and Caritas, jackets and coats were collected in Salzburg’s largest shopping mall during the Christmas period and then donated to the homeless and people in need. In this way, for example, 150 items of clothing were given to Caritas Salzburg in January.

Save on plastic use together when buying laundry and dishwashing detergents: in selected INTERSPAR hypermarkets in Austria you will find refill stations for laundry and dishwashing detergents made from certified organic raw materials that are 100% biodegradable. The refill stations have been constantly adapted and improved in line with customer needs. Refills couldn’t be simpler – so people are happy to play their part in avoiding waste in their daily shopping.

Room With A View

The latest project from Room With A View is a shop in the retail area that stands for a completely eco-friendly lifestyle. But the focus is not on selling products. Rather, they want to introduce customers to a lifestyle that will ultimately help everyone. Room With A View aims to become a place where you can learn about the important issues of the day, get to know brands which also care about the environment, and – first and foremost – where you can swap ideas with like-minded people.

Damn Plastic

Sustainability goes by a new name: DAMN PLASTIC is opening a new concept store that is totally dedicated to Zero Waste. Products from national and international start-up companies are available that provide sustainable alternatives to conventional plastic products.
